May 2016 – The Balloon Debate – Raising money for The Lord’s Taverners and LOROS. Click here to view the Gallery.
September 2015 – The Gauntlet Celebration Party held at Leicester Racecourse to celebrate the success of the June 2015 event – entertainment provided by a Bavarian Oompah band!
August 2015 – England’s Barmy Army/ Lord’s Taverners Cricket match & family fun day at Uppingham Town Cricket Club attended by Paul Nixon, George Chuter, Darren Bicknell and Louis Deacon
July 2015 – Eve of Test Dinner held at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham with special guests Sir Michael Parkinson CBE and Jonathan Agnew who gave their views on the forthcoming Ashes Series.
June 2015 – Repton School 40-over Charity Cricket match, held in conjunction with Ronald McDonald House Charities.
June 2015 – The Gauntlet – a corporate “It’s A Knockout” style competition involving 360 people in 30 teams taking part in the wackiest of games on the Leicester Tigers Welford Road pitch raising over £74,000. Hosts Paul Nixon and George Chuter were joined by Matt Elliot and the High Sheriffs of Leicester & Rutland.
December 2014 – Christmas Lunch hosted by Darren Bicknell at the Crowne Plaza, Nottingham with special guest Mark Arthur – chief executive of Yorkshire County Cricket Club, formerly chief executive at Trent Bridge and Notts Forest.
March 2014 – The L Factor, successor to the previous year’s Y Factor, is held at the O2 in Leicester and smashes the previous event’s fund raising achievement by raising over £54,000. The judging panel included Dave Bartram of Showaddywaddy, Jersey Budd, HRH King Richard III (Deceased) and was again hosted by Paul Nixon and George Chuter.
December 2013 – Christmas Lunches held by The Lady Taverners at Chatsworth House, Derby & the Lord’s Taverners at the Crowne Plaza, Nottingham. Those attending the latter event enjoyed a speech by Tom Croft.
July 2013 – Ratcliffe College, Ratcliffe on the Wreake saw the Lord’s Taverners being the nominated charity for Gareth Jones Headmaster’s Summer Reception. The evening was attended by members of the Leicester Cobra’s wheelchair basketball team, previous recipients of a Lord’s Taverners grant, who gave a demonstration of their skills. The Leicester Riders Club Director Kevin Routledge was present to give a speech to the invited guests. A collection for the chairty on the night raised over £200.
Sept 2013 – A charity cricket day at Grace Road, Leicester which was attended by, amongst others, Jonathan Agnew which again saw a combined Lords Taverners/Matt Hampson Trust team take on members of Leicester Tigers First team. The event raised over £10,000.
April 2013 – Greg Simpson, a member of the Nottinghamshire fundraising committee ran the London Marathon to raise funds for the charity
March 2013 – The first Leicestershire “Y Factor” singing competition held in conjunction with Mencap raising over £42,000 at an evening which was attended by over 650 people. The event was compared by Paul Nixon and George Chuter, judges included Lord Digby-Jones, Dave Bartram of Showaddywaddy and Andy Abrahams of the X Factor.
August 2012 – A charity cricket day at Grace Road, Leicester where the likes of Mike Gatting Paul Nixon and Harry Ellis took part in a cricket match against a team from the Leicester Tigers which included Toby Flood, Manu Tuilagi, Craig Newby – in fact most of the Tiger’s first team!
May 2012 – Gala Dinner in Leicester to launch the Leicester Branch attended by special guests and speakers including Peter Wheeler, Paul Nixon, Roy Jackson and the Lord’s & Lady’s Taverners National Chairman Tom Rodwell and Marylyn Fry.
