To celebrate the success of “The Gauntlet” event which took place at the beginning of June 2015, the fund raising committee of the Leicester Branch of the East Midlands Lord’s Taverners organised a fabulous party on the evening of 24 September 2015 at Leicester Racecourse for all those involved including organisers, sponsors and teams.
Ian Guyler, Chairman of the East Midlands Branch of the charity, began the proceedings with a brief presentation about the work of The Lord’s Taverners before making the big announcement to all those present of the fantastic total of the funds raised by the event, which was a staggering £75,000!!!
Ian then introduced Paul Robin, Chief Executive of the Charity nationally, who handed over some of the money raised from the event to nine local charities which were chosen to also benefit from the funds raised by the event, following which the crowd attending were treated to entertainment by a traditional Bavarian “Oompah” Band and much singing and dancing followed!
